The research reviewed within this case study was carried out through the Smallholder Dairy (R&D) Project (SDP) of the Kenya Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Kenya Agricultural Research Institute (KARI) and the International Livestock Research Institute. SDP was funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and worked closely with many others, including farmers, dairy co-operatives, agricultural extension agents, ministry regulatory officers.
